Once the largest human-made lake in the world, Roosevelt Lake is still the largest reservoir in Arizona, offering countless recreation opportunities from lounging to fishing and more a short 30-minute drive from Globe. A haven for anglers, game fish in Roosevelt include largemouth and smallmouth bass, bluegill, channel catfish and crappie. When full, the lake covers more than 22,000 acres near the confluence of Tonto Creek and the Salt River, with 112 miles of beautiful beaches and secluded coves. A selection of several hundred developed campsites, multiple shoreline areas, and small, isolated, islands and coves offer outstanding opportunities for camping and relaxing.
